The Orange Rockcorps team hit the streets of London for the second year running, looking for exciting volunteer projects that Londoners could get involved in to earn their ticket to a fabulous concert at the Royal Albert Hall.

This year HFVC teamed Orange Rockcorps with Hounslow Urban Farm, an educational and recreational farm where children can learn about a variety of different animals. The farm also offers work experience to young people who are interested in developing a career in farming and agriculture.

On Wednesday 9th September, 112 (yes, 112!!!) eager volunteers turned up at the farm and spent the next 4 hours working hard to transform the farm into a colourful, inter-active site for children and their families.

Volunteers took on tasks such as painting animals on the walls, creating a paddock and cleaning out tonnes of animal poo (very exciting!). All their hard work paid off with a surprise visit by pop star ZZ Brown, who gave an impromptu concert at the farm for the tired (but ecstatic!) volunteers.

The volunteers were treated to an exclusive concert at the Royal Albert Hall, featuring artists such as Nas, Kelly Rowald, Razorlight, Nelly, David Guetta, Daniel Merriweather and Chase & Status. Kim Terry, Deputy Manager of Hounslow Urban Farm was delighted with the outcome, ‘it has given the farm a completely new look which the kids and families will love!’
