On Thursday 26th November a group of senior managers from the Department of Work and Pensions joined young learners at The Bridge Academy to begin building a small market garden.  The volunteers split into two teams and were set the challenge of building two raised beds and double digging a large bed.

All teams completed the challenge and the learners will receive AQA unit awards.  The day was a fantastic success and we would like to thank the volunteers for all of their hard work.  Next steps include a shed and a greenhouse.  We will be growing all sorts of vegetables this year and hope to invite the volunteers back for the first harvest in the Spring.

What people are saying about the market garden project:

“Brilliant!!! The young learners never cease to amaze us with their potential. Cant wait to sample some of the produce” – The Bridge Academy staff member
