This December, Works4U brought together Disney and Bishop Creighton House to participate in their third annual Christmas Party for service users and members. The aim of the challenge was to bring a fun and vibrant Christmas Celebration to the elderly people who frequently use the centre.
Bishop Creighton House is a community resource centre that specialises in projects for elderly, disadvantaged, disabled and young people. For 100 years Bishop Creighton House has been caring for older people-making daily phone calls, home safety checks, help after hospital discharges and neighbourhood safety initiatives. They also provide mentoring programmes, employment/ learning opportunities for youngsters with learning difficulties.
Disney has always advocated the need to be active within Hammersmith and Fulham and is dedicated to giving back to the local community. This particular team were interested in doing something positive and uplifting, especially around the Christmas period.
Bishop Creighton House wanted to do something special to commemorate the festive season including food, colourful decorations, entertainment and Christmas cheer! The challenge involved serving an Xmas buffet lunch, prepping and decorating the rooms and making sure all residents guests enjoyed themselves. Disney VoluntEARS devised and ran a quiz for the attendees and
Children from All Saints Primary and Fulham Prep also joined in the celebrations and performed a number of Christmas Carols for the partygoers.
The parties were very successful and the Disney VoluntEARS hosted extremely well. One VoluntEAR said “the activities for the elderly such as the choir singing and the quiz went really well…it was a wonderful festive experience”
The Manager from Bishop Creighton House said; “Thanks so much for all your hard work. Our older people really enjoyed themselves”
