Works4U was invited to represent England at an International Conference ‘Volunteerism – Avenue for Social Transformation’ at the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG) on 30th June – 1st July. This invitation came as recognition of Works4U’s leading work and expertise in corporate volunteering in London but also its initiatives to promote best practice and collaboration internationally. CEO Dominic Pinkney represented Works4U at the Conference and acted as the main Moderator for the plenary, panel and discussion forums over the two days.

‘It is a great honour and privilege to be representing Works4U and England here at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, but it reflects the leadership role the not-for-profit social enterprise is having in promoting best practice in employer supported volunteering (ESV) in London as well as its efforts to join up ESV provision internationally. Last year we won Best Hammersmith Business and Best Business Supporter of the Community and this year we are at the United Nations!’

The intensive and productive two days began with the Conference being officially opened by David Chikvaidze, Chef de Cabinet for Office of the Director-General at the UNOG. Representatives from across the globe presented various topics associated with volunteering, from volunteer involvement in disaster recovery situations such as Nepal earthquakes right through to corporate volunteering. Conference experts and delegates also worked on their contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, moderated by the UK’s John Loughton from Dare2Lead.
