Works4U alongside 83 Disney VoluntEARs got together this week to inject new life into the local community. The team were given the tough assignment of completing 3 challenging community projects in just one day.

The accounting department of Disney’s Europe, Middle East and Europe headquarters, based at Hammersmith Broadway, eagerly abandoned their desks and Excel spreadsheets for the day and came out in force to embark on transforming the three Look Ahead and Hestia centres.

These organisations provide outstanding care and support for vulnerable people with a variety of special needs (mental health issue, homelessness, etc.), whilst striving for their customers to meet their goals and to live independently. For the great work they provide the Disney volunteers were ecstatic to be able to help a worthy cause.

Disney VoluntEARs¬† were on hand to ‘dig in’, to create a sustained positive environment, by planting flowers, creating¬† flower beds, repainting the lounge and assembled garden furniture. By donating a few hours of their personal time, the volunteers were able to exceed expectations. By creating a beautiful and relaxing garden along with a smart bright interior, the volunteers have helped the residents feel proud and have a sense of pride about where they live, which has a huge positive impact in helping the to achieve their goals.

Christiana Nwachuku from Look Ahead Management Services appreciated the hard work the team contributed into the revamp of the building and also stated “This has made a massive difference... we’re having a BBQ this Friday to celebrate, Thank you”.

Samantha, Look Ahead Support worker, added: “Disney has created a nice environment for customers to relax and hang around”.

In the late afternoon, the volunteers reflected on their time spent and achievements at the three locations. Nina Harlamovs, Director of Indirect Tax at Disney, thoroughly enjoyed the experience of helping others, “It was a whole group effort, helping together for this project”.

George, also from the Accounts team added, “I would definitely volunteer again, you’re doing good and it feels good.

After a successful day volunteers, staff and customers relationship strengthened and through being able to transform an uninspiring space into a sanctuary.
