Infrastructure support service provider Amey is supporting a Hammersmith & Fulham employability project by providing a training location free of charge. Hammersmith based charity HFVC Group (Hammersmith & Fulham Volunteer Centre) is delivering the ‘Boot Camp’ employment project which provides training and support to local residents who have been unemployed for over two years.

Boot Camp is a two-week full-time course, designed to improve confidence and motivation as well as providing advice on how to become more employable and supporting clients in finding work. The course covers aspects such as team working and communication skills, financial advice, problem-solving and job search skills.

With increasing rents it is extremely hard for local charities to find affordable venues to carry out their training and support programmes for beneficiaries. Amey has provided the location for Boot Camp free of charge saving the Volunteer Centre valuable resources which will now reinvested into the charity.

HFVC Group Chief Executive Dominic Pinkney said, ‘This is a great example of how businesses can support local charities and community groups without having to give money or resources. Huge thanks to Amey for supporting this project in this way, it really has made a difference’.

‘Just as local authorities have a responsibility to the citizens and communities they serve, Amey also has a responsibility to the local economy, environment and population in which we operate in. That’s why it’s vital we work with the right partner locally to ensure our objectives are aligned to the needs of the communities and that our activities have a significant impact. We believe that working alongside the Hammersmith and Fulham Volunteer Centre we can together help improve the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of the people and communities we serve within the borough.’ Rayman Bains Communications & Marketing Manager – Amey London Boroughs TFM.
