2nd June 2015
The volunteers from Amey arrived at 11:45am at Kew Gardens to meet with the residents of Elmgrove House. After a short briefing, the volunteers were paired with the residents and enjoyed looking at the different kinds of botanical areas.

After a quick lunch, the group headed for a walk through Palm House which they really enjoyed.

The group ended the day by visiting the gift shop where they bought souvenirs to celebrate the end of a wonderful day.

Quotes
“It was a rewarding experience and I would like to participate in other activities involving taking people out for the day.”
Amey Volunteer

“We spent a great day with isolated people at Kew Gardens. Looking forward to volunteering again.”

“(…)  the main impact your team had was making the day sociable, something we struggle a lot with having so few residents, so a trip out with plenty of smiley happy people really has boosted their spirits. We all remarked on the way back how nice everyone was. We’d love to do more trips offsite like this, with Amey”

Resident from Elmgrove House
“The residents really enjoyed their day and were happy to have formed new friendships with the volunteers!”
