2015 L’Oreal Citizen Day
On May 21st the Hammersmith L’Oréal office maximised their Citizen Day by supporting 4 community organisations in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham.

Organised by Works4U, 96 L’Oréal employees came together to support the deprived area of Sand’s End in Fulham. The volunteers worked with four different organisations within the community, which are all located within walking distance of each other, who all work and support each other on a daily basis. Combined, these community groups offer support and guidance to children from a very young age till they become teenagers.

Amey Visits Kew Gardens with the Residents of Elmgrove House

The volunteers from Amey arrived at 11:45am at Kew Gardens to meet with the residents of Elmgrove House. After a short briefing, the volunteers were paired with the residents and enjoyed looking at the different kinds of botanical areas
Disney pilots the “What Next?” Employment Workshop with H&F Youth Council

The Works4U Director, Jo Morrell, presented a quick introduction of the “What Next?” Employment Workshop, with the help of Disney VoluntEARS who were from a variety of fields within The Walt Disney Company. The first session of the workshop was the “Speed Dating Session” where volunteers were positioned around the room, giving the Youth Councillors an opportunity to interview them for 15 minutes.

Helps Local

The headmistress of the West London Free Primary School welcomed the volunteers from Huron Consulting upon arrival at 10:00am on Friday morning, after which they received a Health and Safety Briefing from the Works4U staff. Following this, the volunteers were split into two teams – one team focusing on painting the allotment area, the other focusing on building a new planter.

GE Visits Kew Gardens with the Residents of Elgin Close
The volunteers from GE arrived at 12:30pm on a sunny Thursday at Kew Gardens to meet with the residents of Elgin Close. After a short introduction, the volunteers were paired with the residents from Elgin Close and enjoyed picnic on the lawn near Elizabeth Gate.

Once the group had finished with the picnic, they headed towards Victoria Gate to view the Princess of Wales Conservatory, the Rock Garden and the Palm House.

Disney VoluntEARS strike again...
Lynton Terrace a residence for those making their way back into the community for the first time after a lengthy period of hospitalisation as a result of various mental health issues was a hive of activity on 31st July. Disney VoluntEARS, eighteen staff from the Disney channel descended on the centre with their stealth like determination to landscape a whole new garden area for residents.

Flower beds were created, lawns sculptured, fencing painted and even ornamental centre pieces creatively fashioned to create a much needed outdoor area for residents to use.

Travelling from Europe as part of a Financial Management Program (FMP), General Electric (GE) volunteers flew down to Sands End Adventure Playground located in the heart of Fulham on a Tuesday early morning to regenerate the children’s play area, before the new term commences.
