16th July 2013
On a scorching hot sunny Tuesday in July, twenty enthusiastic and raring to go volunteers from Disney’s Finance and Accounting team (Disney Stores) at their Hammersmith headquarters (Europe, Middle East & Africa), were tasked with painting a care home for young people with mental health issues in East Putney. The home is run by the charity Hestia, who provides housing and support for a wide range of people who really need it.

Although professing little painting skill, the volunteers made quick and expert progress with the first coat of paint of the communal areas inside this home which houses 7 self-contained bedrooms for the service users. By giving the inside of this home a fresh lick of paint, it will make all the people who live there feel happier about their surroundings.

The volunteers worked extremely hard in the sweltering conditions, taking care to hydrate regularly and get some fresh air and shade from the sun at the nice garden at the rear of the building. The Hestia staff took great care of the volunteers and provided them with cold drinks, fresh fruit as well as tea and coffee.

At 1pm the volunteers had a well-deserved break for lunch, with the volunteers taking a mix of the many food options available in the local area. “10 Slices” Dillon, in particular, required the energy for the afternoon’s work from two pizzas.
